LISTER ver 1.0 (for the Series 3a/3c) ***************************************************************** QUICK START The best method of analysing this program is simply to install it and try it out. To do this create a directory called \LST on any drive and install in the usual way. If you require further information please look in the notes below or contact me using the address at the bottom. ***************************************************************** CONTENTS 1. INTRODUCTION 2. INSTALLATION 3. FEATURES 3.1 Overview 3.2 Inserting an entry 3.3 Organising entries 3.4 Removing entries 3.5 Additional features 4. UNINSTALLING 5. REGISTERING 1. INTRODUCTION As the name suggests Lister is a program to manage lists in particular to-do lists. Why yet another to-do list manager? The problem with most of the to-do list managers available is that they are based on deadlines. This means that entries tend to be organised by when they are due rather than importance. The idea for writing Lister came about because I wanted a method of keeping a record of tasks to be carried out on a particular day. If a task was not due for this day or was dependent on some other task to be completed first I didn't want to see it. 2. INSTALLATION (for uninstalling see below) 1. Copy LISTER10.APP to the \APP directory on any drive 2. Create a directory \LST on any drive 3. Install the program by pressing Psion-I on the system screen. 3. FEATURES 3.1 Overview The Lister program contains three windows, Current, Waiting and Done. The Current window contains tasks which may be completed on the date shown in the top right corner (Note: To change the date use the left and right arrow keys and to move to Today press space). The waiting window contains tasks which can only be started in the future or after another task has been completed. The Done window contains completed tasks. 3.2 Inserting an entry Entries may be inserted into either the Current or Waiting windows. If you place them in the Waiting window you will be prompted to provide the due date and the repeat type. Entries may be repeated by Day, Week or Month. If you insert an entry to the Current window they will default to the date displayed with no repeat. These items can be changed by editing the entry later. 3.3 Organising entries In any of the windows the position of an entry may be changed by selecting the entry and using the up or down arrows with the Control key. In the Current window it is also possible to postpone entries until a particular date or until another entry has been selected. To force an entry to be dependent on another follow the steps below: 1. Select the entry to be postponed 2. Select "Wait for Entry" (Psion-W) from the menu 3. Move to the delaying entry and press enter 3.4 Removing entries Entries may be removed either by using the delete key or by crossing them out (Psion-minus) and then archiving them. The archive will store the 50 most recently completed entries (this number can be changed in the preferences) 3.5 Additional features Entries held in the Waiting section are displayed with the date that they are due and, at the end of the line, two flags with the entries options. These flags are: 1. W or X: for an task waiting for another entry to be completed 2. Repeat details: None, Daily, Weekly or Monthly 4. UNINSTALLING To remove Lister, delete the file LISTER.APP in the APP directory and remove the directory \LST and all its files. If the program has been registered a file LISTER.REG will be located in the \OPD directory. 5. REGISTRATION Lister 1.0 is shareware.
